The impact of the EU sugar reform on the development of the sugar industry in the Czech Republic and EU is discussed in relation to characterization of the sugar industry in the EU (sugar quota, number of operating sugar factories, impact of restructuring), development of the sugar beet growing sector in the Czech Republic (beginning of the reform, sugar prices, outlook of prices for quota beet, price of beet for production of bioethanol). Tables and graphs illustrating the covered data are included.
