《應用生物化學與微生物學》是一本具有或可能具有實際應用價值的國際同行評議期刊，發表有關生物化學與微生物學的原創文章。研究內容包括:酶及其酶促反應機理、低分子和高分子生理活性化合物的生物合成;它們的結構和性能研究;生物發生及其調控途徑;生物活性化合物生產者的代謝、有機合成中的生物催化、微生物的應用遺傳學、應用酶學;蛋白質與代謝工程、植物免疫生化基礎、生化與免疫化學分析應用等方面;外源性物質的生物降解;生物傳感器;生物醫學研究(沒有臨床研究)。除了實驗作品，該雜志還出版了對新研究技術的描述和對選定主題的評論。

Applied Biochemistry and Microbiology is an international peer reviewed journal that publishes original articles on biochemistry and microbiology that have or may have practical applications. The studies include: enzymes and mechanisms of enzymatic reactions, biosynthesis of low and high molecular physiologically active compounds; the studies of their structure and properties; biogenesis and pathways of their regulation; metabolism of producers of biologically active compounds, biocatalysis in organic synthesis, applied genetics of microorganisms, applied enzymology; protein and metabolic engineering, biochemical bases of phytoimmunity, applied aspects of biochemical and immunochemical analysis; biodegradation of xenobiotics; biosensors; biomedical research (without clinical studies). Along with experimental works, the journal publishes descriptions of novel research techniques and reviews on selected topics.
